SUMMARY:ELIZABETH ISAAK
DESCRIPTION:Elizabeth Isaak passed away peacefully on February 23\, 2026\, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. \nShe was born on October 31\, 1962\, with a gentle spirit and a life that would include many physical challenges. Liz is now free from the limitations her body placed on her ability to walk\, speak\, and learn. We take comfort in knowing she is whole and unburdened\, able to run freely in heaven without the need for a wheelchair. \nDespite the obstacles she faced\, Liz graduated from school\, worked for several years\, and learned to communicate using her computer. Her determination and quiet perseverance were an inspiration to those who knew her. Everyone who knew Liz loved her and was touched by her joyful\, loving nature. \nShe leaves behind her devoted and loving mother and primary caregiver\, Sonja Isaak; her sisters\, Cindy (Yardley Ploegman) and Barb (Paul Galessiere); her niece\, Aleah (Aaron Unger); her nephew\, Daniel; and many supportive friends. We are especially grateful for the love and compassionate care shown by the staff at Calvary Place PCH. \nLiz was predeceased by her father\, Arthur Isaak\, and her beloved aunt Elsie. She will be remembered for her sweet innocence\, her remarkable precision in remembering significant dates\, her wonderful sense of humor\, and her love of all things orange and pumpkin – a fitting tribute to her October 31 birthday. \n“Praise the Lord\, my soul; all my innermost being\, praise His holy name.” Psalm 103:1. \nA celebration of Liz’s Life will be held at Springs Church\, 725 Lagimodiere\, at 12 noon on March 7. \nIn lieu of flowers\, charitable donations may be made to the Springs Church “Build the Future” new building campaign.

SUMMARY:Lorraine Smith
DESCRIPTION:Lorraine Cecile Bernadette Smith (Latour) passed away peacefully on March 13\, 2026 at Tudor House in Selkirk\, MB at the age of 101 years. She is survived by her son Keith Raskob-Smith (Debra Goossen) and daughter Lynn Luining as well as grandchildren Cassidy (Simran)\, Delaney\, Braden (Aly)\, Brook\, Dylan (Aderonke)\, Jess (Catarina) and great grandchildren Ameeri\, Jade and James; nieces Lorena\, Louise and Catherine; nephews Dan\, Robert and Marshall. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Kathleen and Joseph Latour\, brother Eugene Latour and sister Lucille Gourlay (Latour) as well as nephew Noel. \nLorraine was born in Deloraine\, MB but lived in many small towns in rural Manitoba\, Saskatchewan and Northern Ontario\, as her dad was a CP Rail station manager. She loved to climb trees and play baseball. When she was bored\, Lorraine would catch flies and paint their wings before releasing them. Lorraine was a talented painter and did both landscape and professional portraits. After graduating high school\, Lorraine went to nursing school in Port Arthur\, ON. On returning to Manitoba\, Lorraine worked a full career as an registered nurse until she retired from Selkirk & District General Hospital in 1983.  After retiring\, Lorraine provided childcare and welcomed foster children and boarders into her home for many years. She loved to play piano and was an active gardener her whole life. She was very proud of all her fruit trees and concord grapes. Lorraine loved animals and always had several dogs. She would fill bird feeders and sit in front of her window watching the birds and squirrels. \nLorraine’s faith in God was very important to her and she was an active member of New Life Community Church which later became Springs Church (Selkirk location). She cleaned the church\, played piano with the church band\, led bible studies in her home\, provided lunches and cold drinks during church building construction and spent many Friday evenings on the street corner in front of the Merchant’s Hotel with Pastor Cam Fontaine singing gospel music and sharing with anyone in hearing distance. \nIn the last few years\, Lorraine talked daily about how much she looked forward to her home in heaven where she would no longer be confined by her body that was finally wearing out after 101 years. She is now rejoicing in the presence of God. We’ll miss her dearly! \nThank you to the staff of Selkirk Home Care\, Tudor House Personal Care Home and Selkirk Regional Health Centre Emergency Room staff for their excellent care. \nFuneral service will be held on Saturday\, March 21\, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel\, Selkirk\, MB\, with viewing one hour prior to the service. \nTributes: www.gilbartfuneralhome.com \nGilbart Funeral Home\, Selkirk in care of arrangements. \nTo send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Lorraine Smith\, please visit our floral store.
