Nancy Louise Eidsvig (nee Paquette), loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, and friend, passes away at age 75.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Nancy’s passing, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg. She was surrounded by love, with her son Drew by her side. As the sun rose, its beams formed the shape of a cross, bringing a profound sense of peace to her family.

Nancy was born on October 1, 1948, in Espanola, Ontario to Lucien “Luke” and Margaret (nee Owen) Paquette. She married Mark Eidsvig in 1972, in Vancouver, relocating to Winnipeg in 1986, where they raised their two sons, Garrett and Drew.

After high school, Nancy attended pre-med before starting her administrative career with the BC Government. After moving to Winnipeg, Nancy worked for 22 years as a Postgraduate Education Program Assistant at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine. There she worked with the Neuroscience Research Program, School of Medical Rehabilitation, and Family Medicine Residency Program.

Nancy lived a life deeply rooted in love, always placing family first. She was kind, nurturing, and devoted, with a special affection for her grandchildren, who adored her in return. A woman of many talents and passions, Nancy had a remarkable circle of friendships and was known for her warm, giving nature. Her faith in God was a constant source of strength, and she was an active member of Springs Church, where she attended Bible studies and trusted God in all things. In addition to her faith and family, Nancy dedicated herself to serving her community. She played a vital role in organizing events for the People’s Party of Canada in Manitoba and was a driving force in coordinating local candidates. Her commitment to helping others included working with the Manitoba Brain Injury Association, where she helped secure funding to improve the lives of brain injury survivors. A passionate advocate of natural health, Nancy studied and practiced nutrition and healthy living throughout her life. She was an accomplished pianist and even composed her own music. Her love for new experiences took her across the world, from Vancouver to New York, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, and Puerto Vallarta, where she embraced the joy of travel and discovery.

Nancy is survived by her son Garrett (Priscille), granddaughter Ariana, and grandson Nolan of Kelowna, and son Drew (Vanessa) and granddaughters Chloe and Taylor of Winnipeg, her brother David who recently moved to Winnipeg, and her aunt Marie McWhirter of West Vancouver.

We find comfort in knowing that Nancy is now with the Lord, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her warmth, kindness, and spirit will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

She joins her loving husband Mark (2016), stillborn daughter Jennifer (1977). Parents Luke (2009) and Margaret (2019).

A reception for family and friends and celebration of life service will be held on her birthday, Tuesday, October 1 at 11:00 am at Springs Church, 725 Lagimodiere Boulevard, Winnipeg.
