WORKSHOPS

Elevate+ features 30+ workshops running throughout the day on Saturday —from leadership development and practical skills training, to in-depth teaching on the foundations of worship and more. No matter where you serve, there’s a workshop for you.

Although some are specific to a few different teams these workshops are open to any volunteer.

General Sessions

Open to all volunteers

KEEPING YOUR COOL WHEN THE HEAT IS ON

Pressure doesn’t just reveal leadership, it tests it. This session explores how to stay steady, grounded, and Spirit-led when emotions run high, stress builds, or people push your buttons. Walk away with tools to respond instead of react, communicate with wisdom, and keep loving people well, even in challenging moments.

In this session, we will explore the powerful role that worship plays in our everyday lives. We all worship something. Though it might be a surprise to some, worship is not about music and never about our Sunday morning experiences. Worship shifts the atmosphere in our lives and invites God on the scene. The Word leaves us with one final commandment to “Love God with all our heart, soul and mind.” What does this look like in a world where we are faced with so many competing distractions? We are to be a living sacrifice and worship in spirit and in truth. We will unpack how we can best give God the extravagant worship to which He alone is worthy.

Students ask big questions…and that’s a good thing! This session equips you to stay calm, listen well, and respond with honesty and grace. You’ll learn how to guide meaningful conversations toward truth in ways that build trust rather than shut it down.

Great ministry often starts in small moments. Learn how to approach people and build meaningful connections, whether you have 30 seconds, a few minutes, or time for a deeper conversation. This workshop will help you move beyond familiar faces in the hallway and into intentional moments that build real community.
Together, we’ll explore practical communication skills for everyday interactions, tips for delivering excellent customer service, and healthy ways to navigate difficult conversations. You’ll gain tools you can use immediately in your volunteer role and beyond.

Recommended For: Resource & Info Centre, Hospitality, Ushers, Greeters, Cafe.

When creativity starts to feel familiar, it’s easy to slip into autopilot. This creative and media focused session helps you reset. Learn what creativity really is, where to find fresh ideas, and how staying rooted in God’s Word can bring new perspective to any role.

Recommended For: All teams, although examples will be media focused.

Ever wonder why some people energize you while others stretch you? This session helps you understand different personality styles, how they communicate, and why they respond the way they do, giving you practical tools to build stronger teams. Learn to recognize and appreciate diverse personalities, and discover ways to connect with anybody.

Recommended For: All teams

Coaching is more than giving feedback. In this session, Pastor Jeremy Prest will walk you through how to lead with clarity and grace – setting expectations, addressing issues with care, and building trust while maintaining healthy, life giving relationships.

Recommended for: Anyone who leads on their volunteer team

How do you balance serving in the church with raising a healthy family? This session offers honest stories and real-world examples to help you build a home that loves Jesus and His church, without burnout, guilt, or pressure.

Prayer is one of the most powerful ways we care for and support others, but many people feel unsure of what to say or how to pray confidently for someone else. In this workshop, Pastor David Craig will help remove the uncertainty and equip you to pray for others with faith.
You’ll learn practical, biblical principles for praying with and for people in everyday moments, how to listen to the Holy Spirit, and how to pray in ways that bring comfort, hope, and encouragement. We’ll also cover appropriate boundaries, sensitivity in different situations, and how to pray simply and authentically without pressure or performance.
Whether you’re praying with someone for the first time or looking to grow in confidence, this session will help you step into prayer as a natural, meaningful part of caring for others.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to increase their personal capacity. Raising your leadership “lid” and growing the influence you have. We will walk through biblical principles that show us how to handle more without losing the grace and peace that God wants us to walk in. These principles will be applicable in your volunteering but also in other areas of your life.

Hosting well means caring for everyone in the room; especially in live, dynamic moments. We’ll focus on protecting the service environment while preserving dignity, trust and connection.

Using a simple CARE model, this session will help you walk alongside others with confidence, humility, and grace, reflecting the heart of Jesus in difficult moments.
