Dennis Allen Brandt
April 30, 1950 – October 28, 2024
Dennis Brandt, the beloved husband of Karyn Reed, of Airdrie, Alberta, passed away in Calgary, Alberta, on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 74.
Dennis is lovingly remembered by his wife, Karyn Reed; children, Jason Brandt (Katherine) and Sheldon Brandt (Angela); grandchildren, Madeline (Matthew) Allan, Ireland (Zachary) Algera, Brodie Brandt, Draven Brandt, and Jude Brandt; siblings, Phyllis (Roger) Headings, Kenneth (Debbie) Brandt, and Clarence (Karen) Brandt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Helen Brandt; and his first wife, Bud Brandt.
Dennis was born and raised in Steinbach, Manitoba, in a loving home with his siblings. He met his first wife Bud at 12 years old and they married in 1969. They raised two sons, Jason and Sheldon. Dennis loved to work with his hands and built/refinished a couple of homes with Bud. He loved horses, playing games, travelling, spending time outdoors, camping, snowshoeing, fishing, motorbiking, dirt biking, cycling or anything with wheels. He was never one to sit around; he was always tinkering on something.
Dennis loved spending time with his family. He had a servant’s heart for everyone he met.
Dennis worked at Springs Church, from its inception, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and remained a life-long member. He switched gears in his career to long haul transport driver for many years and finished his career in dispatch. Being adventurous, Bud and Dennis then moved to Airdrie, Alberta, to retire.
Dennis was happily married to his wife, Bud, until her passing in 2021.
He met Karyn shortly after and they fell in love over a game of cribbage. They married in July of 2023. He had found a new love to join him in adventures together, being very active cycling, riding motorbikes, camping, snowshoeing, hiking, walking and talking, playing games, trips to the beach, travelling, and road trips.
In April of 2024, Dennis was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and after a six-month battle went to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven.
A Celebration of Dennis’ Life (Open-House style) will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, at Dennis and Karyn’s residence. Please contact Jason or Karyn for the address.
