Louisa Pandora “Dora” Thomas

March 23

Louisa Pandora “Dora” Thomas

It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to our beloved Louisa, affectionately known by her family and friends as Dora.
Dora’s journey through life was one of unwavering faith in God, profound love of family and friends, and steadfast resilience. Born in the Parish of St. John in St. Kitts & Nevis, Dora embarked on an adventure that led her from the sunny shores of her homeland to the bustling streets of England in the 1960s.
It was in St. Kitts where Dora first met her future husband, Walter. A love that would endure across time and distance, Walter and Dora’s paths converged once more in England where they fell in love, exchanged vows and began their married life together.
In 1976, Dora and Walter moved to Canada, settling first in Kitchener before eventually choosing to make Winnipeg their forever home in 1977.
Throughout her life, Louisa’s devotion to family was unmatched. Among her 11 siblings, she was the ultimate oldest sister – a protector and a beacon of love and support. Dora was an adored aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her loving nature extended beyond bloodlines to include the friends in her life who she embraced as family.|
The loss of her beloved Walter in 1992 marked a profound chapter in Dora’s life, yet she faced this challenge with resilience and grace. Dora found solace and strength in her unwavering faith, and the comforting care of family and friends.
A woman of many talents, Dora’s passion for crafting knew no bounds. Her nimble fingers wove intricate patterns in needlepoint and knit countless treasures, each stitch a testament to her boundless creativity and meticulous attention to detail.
As we mourn the loss of our dear Dora, we are immensely grateful for the outpouring of love and support from her cherished circle of friends. Their unwavering presence and steadfast companionship sustained Dora not only through the years of your friendship, but during the last few months when you brought comfort, joy and warmth to Dora’s bedside.
As we bid farewell to our dear Dora, we hold onto the cherished memories and the legacy of love, creativity and faith she leaves behind. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire us, and may her memory be a blessing that lives on in our hearts forever.
Rest peacefully, dear Dora, knowing that you were deeply loved and will be eternally missed.|
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Louisa (Dora) Thomas to The Canadian Diabetes Association. |
