NOLA LYNN NERBAS
May 31, 1959 – December 6, 2024 (age 65)
Nola Lynn Nerbas was born May 31, 1959, in Langenburg, Saskatchewan. She spent her early years in Langenburg, where she attended school and met her high school sweetheart, Armand. They married on November 15, 1975, when she was 16 and he was 18. Their first daughter, Jennifer, was born in 1976.
Their journey together took them from Saskatoon, SK, to Mackenzie, BC, then to Prince George, BC, and later to Edmonton, AB. They eventually returned to Langenburg, SK, where they welcomed their second daughter, Megan, in 1986. Later that year, the family moved to Winnipeg, MB, where they put down roots and built a life filled with love and cherished memories.
In Winnipeg, Nola established a home daycare service, caring for and nurturing countless children over the years. Her gentle and caring spirit made her a beloved figure in the lives of those she cared for. Nola will be remembered for her quiet, reserved nature, her kindness, and her deep love for her family. She found joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, browsing shops and markets, camping, spending time at the beach and incorporating fitness as part of her daily routine.
In her early 50s, Nola was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s, a difficult and challenging journey that she faced with grace and strength, and was taken from us too soon. Nola passed away peacefully on the evening of December 6, 2024, at Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 65. Her warmth, compassion, and quiet strength will be deeply missed but forever cherished. Nola will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Jennifer (Steve) Joyal, and grandsons Justin and Jaxen of Winnipeg, and Megan Nerbas (Craig O’Neill) of Summerside, PEI. She is also survived by her siblings Debbie (Darcy) McIntyre, Brent (Natalie) Welke, and Joanne Weinheimer (Welke). Nola was predeceased by her husband, Armand Nerbas, and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society or D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre.
