Anna Joyce Watt (Derksen) (nee Dueck)

On March 22, 2026 at the age of 83, Anna Joyce Watt (Derksen) (nee Dueck) passed away peacefully into her heavenly home, with family by her side, following a short battle with pancreatic cancer, which she fought with grace and strength.
Born on December 11, 1942 to parents Peter and Margaret Dueck, Anna was the beloved twin of Marge, her ‘other half’ and lifelong best friend. She was also a cherished sister to 7 other siblings with whom she shared many special bonds throughout her life.
Anna’s early years were spent on her family’s farm in Blumenfeld where many treasured memories were made.
Later in life, Anna had three boys, Ken, Sheldon and Kelly, whom she loved dearly. Moving to Winnipeg and making a home for her young family there, she met John, and they were later married. Through their marriage, Anna, along with John, lovingly embraced not only her own children, but also John’s children and all of her grandchildren .
Anna treasured fishing trips with John, Christmases with her family and gatherings spent with her siblings back home, which were especially dear to her.
Anna’s faith was one of the guiding forces in her life. She was devoted to her church and gave generously of her time through volunteer work. Her time spent at Springs Church and at Vineyard Church in Mazatlán, gave deep purpose and joy and she made lifelong friendships there.
Anna had a special love for flower gardening, and she found great peace and happiness in tending to her flowers.
She will be remembered for her warmth, youthful spirit and love for life.
Anna is lovingly survived by her sons Sheldon (Richelle), Kelly (Wendy), and stepsons John (Darlene), Doug (Keiko) and her grand children and great grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her husband John, son Ken and step children, Charles, Donald, Ron and Sharon.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished and remembered by her loving family and special friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care Anna received during her stay at the Grace Hospice.
A service will be held at Springs Church, 725 Lagimodiere Blvd, on Tuesday, April 14th at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
