Roger Barry Blaine Saltel passed away at the age of 68 years old on July 31, 2023, at Jocelyn House after a long battle with cancer.

Roger was predeceased by his biological parents Fernand and Constance Saltel, his sisters Liliane and Annette, his foster parents Clovis and Irène Proteau and foster brother Philippe.

He leaves to mourn his siblings Emile, George, Madeleine and Sheila and the Proteau family: Eveline, Léo, Henri, Agnès, Louise and special friend Molly Johnson and her family, Maria, Elisha, Joseph, Jordon, and Grace.

Roger was born in St. Boniface on June 21, 1955.
At the age of 5, Roger was lovingly welcomed into the Proteau family household in Richer, Manitoba. He attended school and graduated from Ste. Anne Collegiate after which he pursued his studies in social work. Throughout his career, Roger dedicated himself to helping others. He retired from St. Amant in March 2023.

Roger was a caring friend with a generous heart. He had a positive outlook on life. He loved imitating Elvis, singing his favorite song, “Blue Suede Shoes”. Roger could often be found enjoying a “double double” with friends.

The family is grateful to the staff and health care providers who took care of Roger at Riverview Health Centre and Jocelyn House.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., at Springs Church located at 595 Lagimodiere Blvd.
